One of the original performance companies in the auto aftermarket, Porter Mufflers was started right in the epicenter of the hot rod world, Los Angeles. Throughout the 50's & 60's they were the best-selling performance muffler around and nothing else sounded like them, then or now. After the Porter brothers retired in the 70's the company went semi-dormant and remained so until 2010.

Today the signature "Porter Sound" is back, new generations are hearing them for the first time, and the response has been incredible! The biggest difference between Porter Mufflers and the catalog mufflers is the engineered "gapped-spring" that runs through the center. Not only is it much stronger than a perforated sheet-metal tube, it also redirects sound-waves into each other and into the densely packed casing leaving a nice deep rumble. Each Porter Muffler is packed with 7-8 pounds on stainless-steel wool inside the 16 gauge outer shell (with 12 gauge end-caps) and this is what absorbs the high resonant frequencies that cause that "tinny" sounds and echoes. This design also eliminates drone at cruising speeds so your car will be more comfortable on those longer cruises!
